Dr. Betts was there when she needed him Read Transcript

The dentist that I had before, I'd had for 20 something years and he retired. And I loved him. I thought he was great. It was somebody in another town and that I would drive to go and see over in Athens. And then he retired and just hearing through friends about Dr. Betts, I was just, I felt like I've struck it good again. You know, I've got another one that's competent, really knows what he's doing. Really good and great staff too because I was friends with all the staff at the other place and friendly and same here.
I woke up one morning and still in my pajamas and I ate a gummy vitamin and a crown fell off that, not one that Dr. Betts put on. And I was able to call the office and leave a message and I think I texted him because like I said, we're friends with and he met me up here on a Saturday morning and we got things squared away until I could come back on and be comfortable until I could come back on Monday and get that taken care of. That's a relief to know that you've got somebody that you can get in touch with if you really need to. When you visit Dr. Betts and his facility, it's clean, it's pleasant. It's a wonderful, nice waiting room. They get you back right away. That's another thing is there's, I've waited more today than I have, to do this, than other things, but there's no waiting and they get you in, they get you out pretty quick. And it's just pleasant and thorough.

Comprehensive Dental Care for the Whole Family Read Transcript

I've had to have a lot of dental work, and he has been excellent. I fell and knocked out a front tooth. I had a crown on it, and it just shattered it. Of course, I was devastated because here it was my front tooth, and not only that, it hurt. I called him and got in touch with him, and he was off doing something with his family. He actually stopped what he was doing, came in on a Saturday morning and did what he could to make my smile good enough where I could at least go out in public if necessary.
Then I had some other issues that he sent me to a periodontal surgeon. He followed up with me, worked with that person to make sure everything, my care was good. Then he followed up with me afterward. He doesn't just drop it. Once he sends you to somebody else, he makes sure that all the treatment was there and that you're happy with it, and you don't have any issues with them. He's just always been very special to me, but I don't think he does that just for me. I think he does it for everyone. I love to come here because all the staff and Dr. Betts always makes me feel very comfortable. They give great care and always on time. I feel like I get good care when I leave, so a good reason to come.

Restoring Her Smile Read Transcript

I had a small tooth ache, never really had a tooth ache so I call Dr. Betts office. And it was kind of kind of funny that I called just to see if they were open, but I think I called them during lunch time or early morning or something, and they noticed that I had called, and I didn't even leave a message or anything. They called back.
So I explained to him, "I've got a small toothache, nothing's really big, major, it's not hurting me, but it's just every so often." Well, they wanted me in right then. They said, "Let's get this looked at. Let's not wait until something ..." I think I was going into a weekend and they said, "Let's not wait and have this problem happen." So they got me in that day to take a look at it. And come to find out I had a crack started in a tooth, something that I had never thought I would have. I don't know how I did it. They explained to me that it just happens. It's nothing that I did, it just happens. And so I ended up having to get a crown done and the week I got scheduled very quickly, so that way I would not have that problem going into the weekend because I didn't want me to be in pain.
Preventative care, Dr. Betts, his hygienists mainly, they explained to me that you don't just need to go side to side brushing your teeth. You need to actually brush your teeth different ways in different parts of your mouth. And they also explain flossing, I'm one of those, it's not a great flosser. So they really touch on ways to make it not as cumbersome and explained to me how to floss correctly. They give you a packet of a floss, a toothbrush and toothpaste, and mouthwash every time you leave so that's something. I know preventative also is keeping a good new toothbrush, so I never ever buy extra toothbrushes, or have to think about it. It's always there. So, that's something that I think they help with.
And then, any time you have concerns of a certain spot, "Hey, this hurt two weeks ago," I'm just not thinking about it. They check it and they keep an eye on things before they get bad, for sure in terms of cavity, or any other top of other dental problem.

Emergencies Happen Read Transcript

I had a tooth crack just kind of out of the blue. It was one of those things I'm fine, the next minute, it's like, oh my God. They very immediately came in and took care of everything. That's the biggest thing that they've done. I think other than encouraging me to keep up with my oral health, to head off any further problems, that was just one of those weird, wow, a minute I'm fine, and the next minute something happened. But I was very pleased with their care and concern over all that also.
They numbed me up so I didn't feel anything, which I was just willing to kiss somebody for. They're very aware of people's pain tolerance and what their preferences are. They don't leave any stone unturned. It's not a cookie cutter, you know, this is going to work for everybody. It's going to work for you. That's a really good way to put it, I think.
The friendliness, the care, the really high level of care that we've gotten, my wife and I, my wife is a diabetic, so the oral care is a little more important for her. We're really careful about that. Just every time I've ever been asked, they have to kind of stop me because I just go on and on about how pleased we are with Dr. Betts.

Ressa C. Read Transcript

I've been coming here since 2007. We keep coming back because not only do you get great care, but it's a family-type atmosphere. They take care of every need that you have. There's no type of emergency that you cannot get in contact with them, and you get immediate attention.

He's been proactive with any dental need that I've had. If he sees that there's a problem that’s going to cause me an issue in the future, he's been proactive to take care of that. Also, I've had several teeth that we've had issues with and I've had to get the implants with, and he's given me the care that I've needed for that and referred to the doctors that I need to have that taken care of.

I had tooth that in the past had given some issue, and we had put in a bridge, and that bridge had pretty much ran its course, and we had to go the implant route on that one. And then a second one, it was a tooth on the bottom that not only had the implant but also had an infection that we had to get taken care of as well and have the implant put in that already had a root canal.

When you come to Dr. Betts and his staff, you're going to be treated as family, and they will take the best care of you possible to not only serve your immediate dental needs but also take care of you in the future for any needs you have.

I've always had a mortified fear of the dentist, and over the years that I've been with Dr. Betts, he has worked with me and caused me to be very, very comfortable with him. I have no fear anymore.

He's helped me with some gum disease, and he gave me a lot of pointers to do, and I've done them. I've done what he's told me to do, and we've corrected all of that. I've had some issues with implants. I have had to have implants, and he was very, very precise on getting those done correctly. He made sure the implant looked exactly the way he wanted it to look, so it would look like my natural teeth and fit like a natural tooth.

At one time he sent the implant back three times to the lab and had them remake it because he was not satisfied with the way it looked. He didn't just send me out because it was stuck in my mouth. He took it back out and made them do it the correct way.

I've been coming here for over 25 years, and he's always just done everything that was good for me. He's never done anything that I would disapprove of and always makes you feel welcomed and comfortable, and he always greets you with a smile and a “good morning” or a “good afternoon.” And anybody that's asked for a dentist, I've always told them Dr. Betts.

Moved to Decatur almost 30 years ago now. Been awhile since I'd been to the dentist, so I thought, it's time to get back in that routine again, doing my twice-a-year checkup, like I'd been doing most of my life. Dr. Betts' office was about two blocks from where I lived at the time, and I think he had just maybe started practice or was finishing up a practice of another dentist here in town at the time. It was close and convenient, so that's why I started going to Dr. Betts.

He's taken real good care of me. I really do like Dr. Betts, he's a good guy and, like I say, if I see him out around town, he's the same person he is here, so I like that. I like that a lot about him. The folks that he hires, they just seem like they come out of the same mold. They're all just really friendly and really good at their job and just make it real easy to come and get work done.

I've had a lot of issues with my teeth since I was young. I've had a lot of fillings back when I was a teenager and on past that. They're constantly reminding me of things I need to do, such as flossing and do those kinds of things, which I used to not do as a younger adult. So, I've learned over the years that I need to take a lot better care of my teeth than what I used to.

So, they do those kinds of things, and they do the fluoride treatment at checkups and they do a lot of things to kind of help preserve and to keep what you've got and not let your oral health get too in bad shape.

Several teeth that I've had the crowns put on, cracked a tooth or something like that that needs to have some repair work done to it, plus I've had several teeth that have had fillings put in them years and years ago that finally deteriorated to a point where they're starting to show some aging and causing some cracking. The old fillings that they used to do back when I was young work on your teeth over time.

So, anyway, I've had several of those repaired as well, plus I think I've had a couple of abscesses where they've had to go and do root canals. So, like I say, I've had lots of teeth issues over the years, but like I say, they've taken real good care of me here.

The great thing about Dr. Betts and his staff is you're not a patient, you're a family member to them. And you're treated like that when you come here. But I not only say that with his patients but people in our community because we've had many students at our school who have had emergency dental needs, and they have taken care of them. And when we call, they're so ... they will not let anyone go, particularly a student go with a tooth that's hurting. They're gonna take care of them. And that just shows that it's not, this is not just a job to him. He's truly here to serve his patients.

Everyone is a little bit leery of dentists, but I come back every six months for my normal routine checkup. And it seems to help over the years, and I've had good experiences, no problems. And I guess I like their preventive maintenance because it looks ahead and makes sure you don't have any problems. And, knock on wood, it’s been years since I've really had any problems that have had to have immediate treatment type of things. So I just enjoy coming and no problems. And it's a friendly staff, and they seem to treat you like a real person, so no problem.

Dr. Betts has done some major work too on my front teeth. No problems. And it's as if they're just, everything's natural. Routine type of things like fillings, and a couple of crowns, and a couple of bridges. I go back and think about it, a lot of things have been done. But again, no problems. I come every six months, and I guess it's been at least two years now since I think he's done anything, other than have my normal six-month routine. So obviously the preventive type aspects are being positive. I just feel good about my mouth, and I don't really worry about it, my situation as far as my teeth.
