Dr. Charles Betts
Practicing Dentistry in Decatur for Nearly Three Decades
My continuing education has been really broad range — everything from cosmetic dentistry to just basic prosthetics, which means doing things like crowns and bridges, restoring implants, removable prosthetics like partials and dentures, basic sciences, pharmacology. A wide range of things so that I will be prepared to help my patients.

What attracted me to dentistry was the combination of art and science, the helping other people. Also the challenge and the reward of having my own business and being my own boss.
Dr. Betts’ goal has been to provide the kind of personalized treatment and service he knows his patients deserve. He believes there is more to being a good dentist than creating healthy smiles. That’s why he values taking the time to get to know his patients. Dr. Betts loves his work. He also loves music, and he often combines his two passions by humming as he goes about his day. Many of our patients enjoy having a melodious dentist!
Mindful of the importance of continuing education and improving his dental practice, Dr. Betts is an active member of the American Dental Association, Alabama Dental Association, Eighth District Dental Society of Alabama, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Wilson-Chenault Dental Study Club.Dr. Charles Betts on his educational background Read Transcript
My undergraduate degree was from Emory University in Atlanta, and I went to the University of Alabama Dental School in Birmingham. Since then, lots of continuing education. One of my goals when I graduated from dental school was to become a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, which I did, and that entails 500 hours of continuing education and an extensive comprehensive exam.
When he’s not in the office, Dr. Betts enjoys travel, music, spending time with his family, and history. Dr. Betts has been interested in history for much of his life; he studied history as an undergraduate at Emory University.
