Dr. Charles Betts grew up mostly in Alabama. He is a husband, father, and grandfather who has been practicing dentistry in Decatur for 30 years.
Dr. Betts’s professional life began at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, where he graduated in 1989 with a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree. After graduation, he joined a practice in Decatur, which he purchased two years later. In 2000, he was awarded a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). The AGD awards this honor to its members who successfully complete extensive continuing education requirements (a minimum of 500 continuing education credit hours) and a comprehensive examination.
Dr. Betts’s goal has been to provide the kind of personalized treatment and service he knows his patients deserve. He believes there is more to being a good dentist than creating healthy smiles. That’s why he values taking the time to get to know his patients. Dr. Betts loves his work. He also loves music, and he often combines his two passions by humming as he goes about his day. Many of our patients enjoy having a melodious dentist!
Mindful of the importance of continuing education and improving his dental practice, Dr. Betts is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Alabama Dental Association, the Eighth District Dental Society of Alabama, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Wilson-Chenault Dental Study Club. He currently serves as Vice President of the Alabama Academy of General Dentistry.
When he’s not in the office, Dr. Betts enjoys travel, music, spending time with his family, and history. Dr. Betts has been interested in history for much of his life; he studied history as an undergraduate at Emory University.
